Depending on Your Individual Needs, We Offer the Following Massages
Deep Tissue Massage
This massage targets the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue. This type of massage uses slower strokes or friction techniques across the grain of the muscle. Deep tissue massage is used for chronically tight or painful muscles, repetitive strain, postural problems, or recovery from injury. People often feel sore for one to two days after deep tissue massage.
This type of massage uses smooth, gliding strokes. The primary purpose will be to help you relax, massaging at a slower pace and use light pressure. During a relaxation massage there is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or knots in the muscle tissue and the therapist won't push your pain limits in order to get the muscle to release. Sometimes people even fall asleep during a relaxation massage. There are still substantial health benefits to a relaxation massage, including calming the nervous system, promoting a sense of well-being, improving blood circulation and stimulating the body's lymphatic system, which carries away waste products.
Sports Recovery Massage
Sports massage is specifically designed for people who are involved in physical activity. But you don't have to be a professional athlete to have one-it's also used by people who are active and work out often. The focus isn't on relaxation. A combination of techniques are used. The strokes are generally faster than Swedish massage. Facilitated stretching is a common technique. It helps to loosen muscles and increase flexibility.
Full Body Massage
A full body massage involves massage of the back, neck, shoulders, legs, feet, arms, hands and face.
Back, Neck & Shoulder Massage
Back, Neck & Shoulder massage involves concentrating on those areas where there is chronic tightness and pain, repetitive strain and postural problems.
Balms & Oils We Use For Massage
Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil Massage
"One of the most luxurious medical treatments on earth is to receive magnesium massages with magnesium oil on a consistent basis. Having an ounce of magnesium oil rubbed over one’s body by either a trained or massage therapist or by a loved one is heavenly". (Dr Mark Sircus)
Pain relief and muscle relaxation for people with arthritis and muscle cramping is an important and significant benefit of magnesium oil.
Magnesium applied directly to the skin alleviates chronic pain, muscle cramps, and in general makes our job of opening up and softening muscles and connective tissue much easier. Magnesium is a potent vasodilator, and smooth muscle relaxant.
Tui Bee Balms
Balms soothe and nurture while being gentle and safe; they enhance and assist the body’s own natural pathways to health. The essential oils Tui use in their balms and waxes are often targeted towards overall effects like relaxation (Lavender Massage & Body Balm) rather than acting as broad spectrum “cure all” silver bullets.
The effects these balms have are therefore beneficial holistically. In the same vein, the certified organic NZ beeswax and pure vegetable oils they use in all their balms are ideal carriers of the other active ingredients. They moisten and nourish the skin also, rather than being extra unnecessary material that serves no good purpose. This is in stark contrast to many pharmaceuticals that can contain a wide range of ingredients unnecessary to healing and even potentially damaging to health.
