Skin Benefits of Coffee

That's right, SKIN benefits!!

Who knew coffee could get any better?

We all know how stimulating coffee can be to our nervous system, but did you know about the beneficial effects it has when applied topically to the skin?

What is so Beneficial about Coffee?

Caffeine has been know to reduce redness and inflammation and is added to many skin care formulas. By using coffee you have the added benefit of including anti-oxidants to help reduce signs of aging.

Coffee can also stimulate hair growth by specifically targeting DHT, the hormone responsible for hair loss, and blocking it. When DHT (Dihydrostestosterone) attaches itself to receptor cells of genetically predisposed hair follicles, it prevents proteins, vitamins and minerals providing nourishment to the hair follicles, causing them to shrink. Caffeine causes the hair cells to product ATP and keep the hair follicles in the active growth phase.

Home Ideas for Coffee

Coffee grounds are ideal for homemade body scrubs. They are more gentle than sugar and will leave you skin feeling silky smooth.

When applied as an eye cream the caffeine helps reduce under-eye puffiness by restricting blood flow to the area as well as decreasing any swelling.

The antioxidants (flavonoids) are released when coffee is brewed so by using a hot infused oil in skin creams you can help reduce premature ageing due to light, pollution, heat and free radicals.

Coffee face mask can stimulate blood flow and make you skin appear brighter and more radiant.

So what better way to reduce your caffeine intake but still embrace the benefits and aroma of coffee by trying in on your skin and hair!
